The GymDogs had their second meet at home this past weekend after being on the road for over a month.

The ninth-ranked Georgia gymnastics team put up season-high scores in three events in addition to its highest overall score of the season en route to a 197.200-195.550 win over No. 11 Kentucky on Friday night in front of 9,864 at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia was the best it has been all season on bars (49.450), beam (49.400), and floor (49.400) as the Gym Dogs move to 2-3 (1-2 SEC). Kentucky drops to 3-4 (1-3) on the year. The Gym Dogs edged the Wildcats on all events except for vault.

The Gym Dogs’ 197.200 is good for the second-highest score in the nation so far this season behind only Alabama’s 197.450.

Shayla performed on all four events, 39.500 standing as the best performance of the night in her first all-around effort of her career (9.775 vault, 9.850 bars, 9.925 beam, 9.950 floor).

“We finally hit as a team, and we are unstoppable when we hit like this,” Worley said. “I didn’t realize the value and importance of being at home and the energy that can be created until I was away for three weeks. So that makes me really appreciate our home crowd because we have the best fans in the world.”

Next weekend the GymDogs will have their third home meet of the season. They will be up against the currently ranked No. 7 team Arkansas.

This past weekend Georgia traveled to Auburn, Alabama to compete against the Aburn Tigers. Ranked No. 15, Auburn defeated the No. 8 Gymdogs 195.225-194.900. Georgia drops this week to No. 9.

Shayla competed on the uneven bars and balance beam (9.650 and 9.600). Next week the Gymdogs will have a home meet against No. 11 Kentucky where they will look to break their three meet losing streak.

Despite its highest total score of the season, No. 10 Georgia fell just short to sixth-ranked Utah, 196.550-196.500, in front of a record crowd of 15,552 at the Huntsman Center Friday.

"You never want to lose and we hated to lose, but this felt like a Georgia team tonight," said head coach Jay Clark. "We made some mistakes and we are going to get those straightened out. For all the naysayers out there, Georgia isn't going anywhere. To finish the way we did and the way we kept fighting was impressive."

Shayla competed on two events, uneven bars and floor exercise. She had great routines and scored a 9.825 on bars and a 9.800 on floor exercise. Next weekend, the GymDogs take on Auburn at Auburn University where they will look for their first win on the road!
